CHRZANOWSKI, BELLEROSE BRUNELL CARNEY
Bellerose Brunell Carney Chrzanowski passed away peacefully early Monday morning, June 22,
2015 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.  She was born in Meriden, Connecticut on June 27,
1930, and was the wife of the late Desmond Carney, and of the late Edmund Chrzanowski.  Belle
graduated from New Haven State Teachers College, and later earned several graduate degrees in
Early Childhood Education from Southern Connecticut State University.  She taught children in
Washington D.C., Greenwich, Woodbridge, and New Haven, Connecticut, and in the Southern
Berkshire Regional School District in Massachusetts, from which she retired.
She is the daughter of the late Raymond W. Brunell, Sr. and Florette B. Brunell.  She is survived
by her brother, Deacon Robert J. Brunell, Sr. of New Haven and his wife Phyllis; her brother-in-
law Richard J. Lonergan of West Haven, and her sister-in-law Joan B. Butcher of South
Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother Raymond W.
Brunell, Jr., and her sisters Gloria F. Brunell, Ph.D., and Cristle B. Lonergan.
Belle loved knowledge, especially science and nature, and shared her joie de vivre with those she
met.  She was a member of the group from the New Haven Astronomical Society that first
tracked Sputnik, the first artificial satellite, over North America from atop Engleman Hall at
Southern Connecticut State University.
Her family wishes to thank the kind staffs of the Clelian Adult Day Center, Milford Hospital
Wound Care Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital 4 East, Dr. David Novicki D.P.M, Dr. Antoine
Ferneini M.D., and Dr. David Ellis M.D. of Yale-New Haven Hospital, as well as the staff at
Connecticut Hospice for their compassion and kindness.
People are asked to go directly to church for A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at
10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 26, at the Church of Saint Mary’s, 5 Hillhouse Ave. New Haven. 
Burial will follow at Salisbury Cemetery, Salisbury, Connecticut.  Friends may call on
Thursday, June 25, from 4 to 7 P.M. at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden. 
Memorial contributions may be made to Clelian Adult Day Center, 261 Benham Street, Hamden,
CT 06514 or to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
