Oliver Matthew Murphy “Big Murph”, age 60, of New Haven, was called home on March 17, 2016 at YNHH surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 28, 1955 in New Haven, the cherished son of the late Willie and Esther (McNeil) Murphy. Oliver started at Richard C. Lee High School but graduated from Hamden High in 1974. He was a well known high school basketball star. He enjoyed entertaining others with storytelling, jokes, singing, and dancing.
Funeral Services will be held on Sat. March 26, 2016 in Ebenezer Chapel, 50 Dwight St. New Haven at 9 O’clock. Viewing in church from 8-9am. Interment will be in the Murphy family plot in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
